Dr. Henry A. Stiene serves as co-medical director and team physician for Xavier University, as well as numerous high schools in the Cincinnati area. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Stiene is a 1986 graduate of the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1990. He completed a one-year primary care sports medicine fellowship at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Stiene is a managing partner in Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Stiene’s professional interests include providing orthopaedic care to athletes and patients of all ages and backgrounds. This includes injury prevention, pre-participation evaluation, management of acute and chronic illness or injury, fractures and rehabilitation as applied to a broad spectrum of undifferentiated patients, and treatment of osteoarthritis, gout and other issues.
Dr. Stiene is also an emerging leader in the field of regenerative and biologic orthopaedics through the utilization of the platelet-rich plasma (PRP) which utilizes the patients own platelets, growth factors and stem cells to treat and heal acute and chronic muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries. Coupled with this biotechnology, has been the use of MSK (musculoskeletal) ultrasound to diagnose and treat orthopaedic injuries at point of service. Ultrasound guided techniques are also being utilized to insure precise placement of medications and PRP into joints and injured tissues. Dr. Stiene has taught these exciting new aspects of orthopaedics to other physicians around the country and Beacon Orthopaedics has also hosted these courses in Cincinnati.
Dr. Stiene has also taken an active role in teaching primary care sports medicine to physicians who have completed medical school and their residency. He is published in numerous professional journals and is co-program director for the Sports Medicine Fellowship Program through the TriHealth Hospital System.
