Beacon’s Concussions Clinic Kickoff

Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine is proud to announce a clinic designed exclusively around concussions. Topics will include general education around concussions, preventative steps, signs and symptoms, legal ramifications, observations from an athletic trainer, and perspectives from emergency medicine.

Those presenting at the symposium are board certified and fellowship trained physicians, Dr. John Brannan, Dr. Allison Phelps and Dr. Angel Velazquez. Craig Lindsey, Beacon’s Head Athletic Trainer, will also be providing the crowd with an inside look at the role of a Certified Athletic Trainer when an athlete may have suffered a concussion during a game. Beacon’s panel of Credentialed ImPACT Concussion Consultants will be sharing videos, personal experiences, and medical expertise throughout an hour and thirty minute educational symposium.

The Evening’s Agenda Includes:

  • Welcome and Importance of Concussion Education – Dr. Timothy Kremchek
  • Concussions in Sports: Certified Athletic Trainers Perspective – Craig Lindsey, AT
  • Sports Concussion: Signs and Symptoms – Angel Velazquez, MD
  • Emergency Medicine Perspective – Allison Phelps, MD

The objective of the event is simply to represent an official kick-off of a new feature at Beacon’s Saturday Morning Injury Clinics. Beacon will now provide a Concussion Specialists at Beacon East, Beacon West and Summit Woods in Sharonville each Saturday morning. It is imperative to recognize a concussion immediately. Providing faster access to care for students can decrease the recovery time and ensure no additional damage occurs.
